The Presentation

This romantic story is set in Paris in the year 1770. The main character of the story, Comte de Rochefort, chances to discover a plot to prevent Madame Dubarry from being presented at court. Later that night, a series of adventures leads him to Madame Dubarry's party while it is going to the court. He assists the Chief of Police of Paris to outsmart those who had plotted against the lady. It is an intriguing tale with incredible characterization and a gripping plot. Irish author, Henry de Vere Stacpoole, has done an excellent job in writing the story with such ease and simplicity that it is easy to follow for any reader.
