Two Sussex archaeologists: William Durrant Cooper and Mark Antony Lower

This is an account of the political rivalry between two persons in Lewes. Mr Cooper was an eminent lawyer and a liberal supporter. He was wealthy enough to put up a candidate of his choice to contest the local election in the town. When his candidate was unsuccessful not once but twice, the bizarre plan he made to take revenge somewhat backfired on him.
