Francis Newman (1805 – 1897), was the younger brother of Cardinal Newman and this is an autobiographical account of his struggles with faith and his transition from Calvinism to pure theism. It is an interesting book. Newman struggled to deal with his critics, some of whom were very unkind, and the book evokes a kind of sympathy for the situation he found himself in.
