Über das Buch
In Eastern Europe, communism is in its heyday. The impact of the politically motivated division of territory following the Trianon peace treaty is still being felt decades later, especially in Transylvania, where there is a strong attempt to «integrate» the Hungarians living there, with the more distant goal of completely transforming their national identity, i.e. assimilating them. But the people of Transylvania, and especially of the predominantly Hungarian Szeklerland, although they have not yet managed to achieve territorial autonomy, are strongly resisting this – often provocative, often cruel – effort. The history of this period, its struggles and everyday life, unfolds in Béla Bíró's documentary book, rich in facts and stories.
