Arthur Conan Doyle, the author best-known today for his Sherlock Holmes novels, penned the following non-fiction book. Here, he responded to critics of the United Kingdom's role in the Second Boer War and argued that the UK's decision to enter the war was justified. Doyle has a unique stake in this affair, since he served as a volunteer physician in the Langman Field Hospital at Bloemfontein during the Second Boer War in South Africa.
