The Red Mist

The novel opens with an account of the soldiers under 'Stonewall' Jackson, General of the Confederate Army in the American Civil War, just beginning to emerge from their winter encampment in the Western Mountains. They have suffered losses in the earlier campaign, but are bolstered with fresh recruits and ready for renewed fighting.
