John Tyndall was a prominent 19th-century Irish physicist. His scientific fame arose in the 1850s from his study of diamagnetism. However, he was also interested in other scientific endeavors. In this book, for example, he describes the Alpine glaciers. From how they formed to what it's like to experience them up close, this book helped educate the masses of these tremendous forms.
