A Simple Soul

"A Simple Soul" is a literary work by Gustave Flaubert, written in 1877. It addresses the views of the upper class towards the working class. In the center of the story, Flaubert puts the relations of Madame Aubain, who was envied by her neighbors for her laborious maid Felicite, and Felicite, working for Madame Aubain for a small wage and often treated inappropriately.
