'A Voice in the Wilderness' is a romance-adventure novel written by Grace Livingston Hill. The story begins with our heroine, Margaret, setting out on her journey to start her teaching career. However, she deeply underestimated the challenges that lay ahead. First, due to a mistake, she got off the train at the wrong stop and found herself stranded in the wilderness, with coyotes howling in the distance. She was relieved when a man appeared, but her relief quickly turned to fear when she realized he was not a respectable person. When she refused his advances, she was left alone once again. Tired and hungry, she ended up stumbling into a camp where the man and other rough characters lived. It was only then did her luck turn as she met Lance Gardley, a kind and decent young man who lived among them. After finding her in the wilderness, he made it his mission to ensure she reached her destination safely.
