Fanny Burney (Madame D'Arblay)

This biographical work presents wonderfully a memoir of Frances or Fanny Burney, later known as Madame D'Arblay, compiled by Henry Austin Dobson. Fanny Burney was an English satirical novelist, diarist, and playwright. She was best known for her most successful and famous works, Evelina (1778), Cecilia (1782), Camilla (1796).

English poet, critic, and biographer, Henry Austin Dobson used several sources to create this memoir. Besides her novels and the period's literature, he used Memoirs of Dr. Burney by his daughter, Franny Burney, Diary and Letters of Madame D'Arblay edited by her niece, and The Early Diary of Frances Burney 1768-1778, edited by Annie Raine Ellis.
