Французский водевиль «Новогодний вечер» (или «Сочельник») – веселая, праздничная комедия, послужившая основой для оперетты «Летучая мышь» Иоганна Штрауса.
Людовик Галеви (1834–1908) и Анри Мельяк (1831–1897) написали либретто ко многим опереттам Жака Оффенбаха: «Прекрасная Елена», «Синяя Борода», «Парижская жизнь», «Перикола» и другие. Их наиболее известная работа – либретто к опере Жоржа Бизе «Кармен».
Сюжеты комедий Мельяка и Галеви отличаются легкостью и живостью, а диалоги изобретательны и остроумны.
На русском языке издается впервые.
The French vaudeville “New Year’s Eve” (“Le Réveillon”) is a merry holiday comedy upon which the Johann Strauss’s operetta “Die Fleder-maus” (“The Bat”) is based.
Ludovic Halévy (1834–1908) and Henri Meilhac (1831–1897) wrote the librettos for many of operettas by Jacques Offenbach: “La Belle Hélène” (“The Beautiful Helen”), “Barbe-bleue” (“Bluebeard”), “La Vie Parisienne” (“Parisian Life”), “La Périchole” and others. Their most famous work is the libretto for Georges Bizet’s opera “Carmen”.
The plots of comedies by Meilhac and Halévy are light and lively, and their dialogue is ingenious and witty.
