The Halifax Catastrophe

The following is an account of 'The Halifax Catastrophe' by Royal Print & Litho Limited. It is an incident of great tragedy and destruction that shook the city of Halifax, Nova Scotia, on December 6, 1917. When the French cargo ship SS Mont-Blanc collided with the Norwegian vessel SS Imo, a catastrophic chain of events was set in motion. Laden with high explosives, the Mont-Blanc erupted into a colossal explosion, obliterating everything in an 800-meter radius and leaving at least 1,782 dead, with thousands more injured. This haunting historical account pays homage to the lives lost and the indomitable spirit of those who survived amidst the ruins of tragedy.
