The Bag of Diamonds

The author was British and lived in Lincolnshire, England. Most of his work was composed of adventure novels for younger readers. This story begins in nineteenth-century London on a foggy, snowy and dark winter's night. In the dark, three men appear outside Dr Cartley's surgery. Two of the men are supporting a barely conscious other, whose head droops, body slumps, and legs are incapable of walking.
